In a mechanotransduction laboratory, researchers depend on modern microscopy to study the intricacies of the endothelial cell.  In order to photograph and record individual cells, researchers often employ lasers, photon detectors, and filters.  C-mount ports and adapters allow for a tight connection between these components and the microscope while preventing ambient light from entering the optical path and disturbing the low-light measurements.

The project is to design and develop a light preventing, manually-controlled filter mechanism that interfaces with the existing C-mount technologies in the lab.
