The degasser was tested using several trial runs of increasing water volume. In initial analysis, smaller amounts of water were tested to enable accurate volume measurement both before and after operation. Larger volumes of water were then circulated through the apparatus to test the degasser capacity. Measurements were taken at different times during the trial runs to determine how long given volumes of water take to degas to less than 2 ppm. In all trials, a chemical test kit was used to estimate dissolved oxygen concentration remaining in the water after processing.
