Biomedical Engineering Outreach

Penn State Outreach activities serve people of all ages throughout the world through professional short courses, academic distance learning, undergraduate research, community projects and hands-on camps and workshops for pre-college students.

Pre College Activities

Engineering pre-college activities are offered by the Women in Engineering Program (WEP) and the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP). These include residential and day summer camps, day-long workshops, presentations, and recruiting events beginning with first grade through Girl Scout Saturdays to Middle School with Engineering Day and continuing through high school with MTM Day Modules and Visit in Engineering week. For more information, email WEP at wep@engr.psu.edu or MEP at mep@engr.psu.edu.

Professional Short Courses

Every year, the College supports the delivery of hundreds of programs to thousands of learners throughout Pennsylvania, the United States, and the world through Engineering Continuing and Distance Education. Programs are delivered at University Park, at Penn State campus locations, to work sites, via the Internet, and to people’s homes and offices.

Distance Education

Courses required for the general education component of an engineering degree and some upper-level engineering courses are available through Engineering Continuing and Distance Education and Penn State’sWorld Campus.

Community Involvement

Penn State students, faculty, and administrators maintain a high level of involvement with local and international projects. Students participate in Habitat for Humanity, Engineers Without Frontiers, Girl Scout Saturdays, and local tutoring activities.
