Department of Biomedical Engineering welcomes new affiliate faculty members

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Department of Biomedical Engineering has welcomed 8 new affiliate faculty members within the College of Engineering to serve the department in courtesy-appointed positions. The new faculty affiliations are effective immediately. 

Courtesy-appointed faculty members are selected for their outstanding track record in promoting the discovery, education and research of biomedical engineering and the life sciences at Penn State, both internally and abroad.

Faculty members receiving courtesy appointments in biomedical engineering include: Weihua Guan, assistant professor of electrical engineering; Francesco Costanzo, professor of engineering science and mechanics; Ibrahim Ozbolat, associate professor of engineering science and mechanics; Manish Kumar, assistant professor of chemical engineering; Tak Sing Wong, Wormely Family Early Career Professor in Engineering and assistant professor of mechanical engineering; Daniel Cortes, assistant professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering; Reuben Kraft, Shuman Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering; and Howard Salis, associate professor of biological engineering and chemical engineering.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering administers the undergraduate major in biomedical engineering, and is a part of the university-wide Intercollege Graduate Degree Program, offering both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Bioengineering.
