Bioengineering Undergraduate Students

Educating world-class engineers who develop innovative solutions to problems in medicine and the life sciences.

Prospective and Current Students

Bioengineering (also called biomedical engineering) is the application of traditional engineering skills and analysis to innovation in the health care industry and to understanding biological systems. Bioengineers develop new medical devices, design diagnostic and therapeutic tools, and model physiological systems.  Bioengineers are in a unique position to bridge the gap between medical professionals and the engineering community. Graduates have a wide variety of career options: some chose to work in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industries; others pursue further studies in medicine or the engineering sciences. The baccalaureate degree in Bioengineering is an interdisciplinary program that emphasizes continuous integration of classical and modern engineering principles with the life sciences and health care. The core curriculum emphasizes breath of bioengineering knowledge while formal option areas give students the opportunity to develop an area of specialization.
