Osama Al-Bataineh was born in Zarqa, Jordan
in 1971. He received the BS degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering from
Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 1994, and the MS degree
in Bioengineering from The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) in 2002. He
worked as a computer engineer -after finishing his undergraduate study- in
both Irbid National University (INU) and Yarmouk University in Jordan, he also
worked as a system analyst and programmer for Al-Jeraisy Company in Al-Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia. He is currently working towards the PhD degree in Bioengineering
at PSU. Since 2000, he has been working as a research assistant in The
Bioengineering Department, his research deals with biomedical applications of
the miniature hollow sphere transducers and hyperthermia treatment of prostate
cancer using a novel intracavitary 2-D ultrasound array. The hollow sphere was
tested as a minimally invasive interstitial ablation device and high intensity
hydrophone. Click to find out more about my research!

Joseph Luis was a Master's student in the Acoustics Program at Penn State. He has a BS (2002) and a MEng (2003) in electrical engineering, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His EE master's thesis was the "Detection of Electric Arcs in 42-volt Automotive Systems". His research interests are in electromagnetics, power electronics, transducers, and psychoacoustics. He was investigating the directivity and efficiency of the arrays to be used in the transdermal delivery of insulin by using new designs of the cymbal arrays and exploring different transduction methods. Now at Zevex that makes medical devices. (Joseph.Luis -AT- zevex.com) |
