Biomedical Imaging

Penn State has an exceptional strength in biomedical imaging with a wealth of expertise and unique access to state-of-the-art technologies including functional magnetic resonance imaging, photoacoustic imaging, single-molecule optical microscopy, and cryo-electron microscopy. Our research investigates numerous biological processes ranging from the complexity of the human brain down to the structural dynamics of individual proteins. This work transforms our understanding of fundamental biological processes and offers new diagnostic tools for debilitating diseases.
